The CBTA Full Licence assessment checks that you can ride confidently, safely, and independently in real-world traffic conditions. During the test, an approved instructor will follow you on the road while you demonstrate key on-road skills, including:
Looking: Keeping your eyes up, scanning ahead, and identifying potential road hazards early.
Scanning & Mirrors: Checking your rear-view mirrors and always before braking or changing position.
Head Checks: Performing a physical glance over your shoulder (blind-spot check) when you change your road position or turn.
Communication: Using indicators correctly at least three seconds before making a move and cancelling them promptly afterward.
Positioning: Riding in the correct lane track to maximize your visibility and safety margin.
Speed Management: Maintaining a smooth, legal speed that matches the traffic flow and weather conditions.
Progression: Moving through traffic decisively without unnecessary hesitation or stalling at intersections.
Stability & Smoothness: Showing smooth control over the clutch, throttle, and brakes, especially during low-speed turns and stopping.
Following Distance: Keeping a safe two-second gap behind vehicles in good conditions, and a four-second gap in the wet.
Passing the CBTA Full Licence test means you have proven you can ride safely without restrictions and are ready for the final stage of your motorcycle licensing journey.
